original is built local-first. Your notes, reminders, contacts, and markdown files stay on your Mac.

What stays on your device

Everything you edit. original reads your Apple Notes, Reminders, and Contacts directly on-device and writes changes back through Apple's own frameworks. Your note content is never uploaded to our servers as part of normal use. The markdown folder is a folder on your disk that you control.

What the website collects

original.me is a static marketing site. We use privacy-respecting, aggregate analytics (page views, no cross-site tracking). If you sign up for launch updates, we store the email address you give us solely to email you about original. You can unsubscribe at any time.

Optional cloud features

If a future version offers opt-in cloud sync or remote access, it is off by default, scoped per item, and end-to-end encrypted. We will update this policy before any such feature ships and never enable it silently.

Third parties

The App Store purchase flow is handled by Apple under Apple's privacy policy. Email for launch updates is handled by our email provider solely to deliver those messages.
